YAMAHA Alumni Sharing

“I highly suggest the Yamaha Music Program because it provides a complete and disciplined approach to early music instruction that extends beyond simply learning an instrument. The program is especially beneficial since it begins at an age when children’s brains are most open to learning, assisting in the development of critical cognitive skills, linguistic ability, and memory function. The well-designed curriculum teaches youngsters music theory, practical skills, and ear training in an engaging manner that keeps them interested and motivated. The group-based learning setting also fosters key social skills and confidence through peer interaction and regular performance. Yamaha’s progressive teaching method, which establishes a strong foundation while making the learning process fun, helps students acquire discipline and practice habits naturally.”

Hi my name is Aidan Chong, I am currently 16 and play for the professional football club Kwun Chung southern. As you may know I am also a YAMAHA alumni, during the years at YAMAHA school I completed the JAC course (Junior Advanced Course) and competed in the Electon Festival which my team ranked first that year.

As a YAMAHA alumni, I had various memorable experiences during the music program. One of the moment memorable experiences was the parent and children’s classes, this did not just let me have the opportunity to have classes with my parents but also, behind able to learn beside my parents, which was also a great family bonding experience. Throughout the course we also had mix student classes which helped me out with teamworking skills and being able to learn from other students. During the course we also had single presentations where we presented our songs to the whole class to demonstrate our independent and creative skills which helped me build musical foundations for the future years.

I believe that learning music in my childhood has helped me grow into a better person and improve my musical skills. I believe the benefits of learning music from childhood could help you with your focusing skills along with improving your resilience through overcoming challenges. When I first started playing the piano, I was an unconfident musician. But through the YAMAHA music program I’ve learnt to not just be a more confident musician but also be able to create my own music through the creativity skills and independent skills I’ve learnt.

The training in music since my childhood has really shaped the way I grow and face challenges today. Learning an instrument through Yamaha Music taught me the importance of practice and never giving up, which helps me in sports and other areas of life. Playing music with others and joining competitions taught me how to work in a team. These experiences taught me how to connect with others and stay calm under pressure, which is very useful now as a football player for Club Kwun Chung Southern. Studying music enhanced my reasoning and bodily coordination. It also aided me in comprehending emotions more effectively, both my own and those of others. These abilities enhance my teamwork and assist me in fostering solid connections with teammates.

Triumphing in the Yamaha Music Competition with my team was meaningful, this course remains with me as I play football and encounter various challenges in life. Music and sports indeed share many similarities both require commitment, focused concentration, and the capacity to excel under stress. My initial music education aids me in grasping timing and collaboration, which are equally vital in football as they are in music.
