Pianist Timothy Kwok has performed extensively in North America, Europe, and Asia. He was invited to perform Chinese-French composer Qigang Chen’s piano concerto “Er Huang” for four times, and was praised “exquisite and refined” by music critic Chow Fan-fu.
He also collaborated with suona virtuoso Yazhi Guo in his CD album “City Rhapsody” (Modern Audio International Recordings), then with Canadian pianist Lucas Wong in CD album “Scherzando Piano” (Titanic Records) and was acclaimed by American music magazine “Fanfare” for their “fun and energetic performance”.
His latest recording with Dizi virtuoso Ricky Yeung and Pipa virtuoso Jingshan Sha has just been released by China Record Corporation in 2025. He has shared the concert stage with renowned musicians like conductor Huan Jing, violinist Bin Huang, violinist I-Ching Li, pianist Colleen Lee, music author Yuan-Pu Chiao, Zheng virtuoso Lingzi Xu, Erhu virtuoso Xiurong Cheng, Yangqin virtuoso Yanki Ma, soprano Grace Lin, soprano Xi Wang, soprano Wai-Yin Li, and Romer String Quartet, among others.
Kwok graduated from the Jacobs School of Music of Indiana University with a Master of Music in Piano Performance, then from the College-Conservatory of Music of University of Cincinnati with a Doctorate of Musical Arts in Piano Performance.
He is also a Fellow in Piano Performance of Trinity College London. He is now an Instructor of Piano and Harpsichord at the Music Department of The Chinese University of Hong Kong, and served as an Instructor of Piano at the University of Hong Kong and St. Francis University, a full-time Lecturer of Music and Master’s Degree Tutor at Macao Polytechnic University, a Visiting Artist of Keyboard Studies at The Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts, a Visiting Lecturer of Keyboard Studies at Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts in Singapore.
He taught piano masterclasses at tertiary institutions like Xinghai Conservatory of Music, University of Taipei, Soochow University in Taipei, and Myongji University in Seoul. As one of the first piano pedagogues in Hong Kong and Macao who named “Steinway Honorary Teacher”, Kwok is also an avid translator, columnist, radio programme presenter, and music critic.
