Fiona Poon

PIANIST

 

Fiona Poon holds a Bachelor’s degree with First Class Honours from the City University of Hong Kong and was awarded a scholarship from Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu in recognition of her academic excellence. She further advanced her studies by completing a Master of Arts in Music at The Chinese University of Hong Kong under the Targeted Taught Postgraduate Programmes Fellowships Scheme.

 

Professionally, Ms. Poon has been a dedicated teaching member of the Tom Lee Music Academy over 20 years, where she currently serves as a senior piano tutor. She has extensive experience teaching students of all age groups and levels, from beginners to advanced performers, and specializes in training students preparing for diploma-level examinations. She is highly regarded for her expertise in both performance and pedagogy.

 

Her distinguished musical training includes studying music theory under Professor Edward Ho. She was awarded the Hedy King Robinson Award as the top candidate of the year in 2011. Ms. Poon holds an extensive range of professional diplomas, including LTCL, LRSM, FTCL, LMusTCL, and FRSM, the highest performance qualification awarded by ABRSM.

 

In addition to her teaching commitments, Ms. Poon is actively involved in the broader music education community. She has served as an adjudicator for prestigious competitions such as The Gifted Pianist Contest and the Tom Lee Music Festival. She is also an experienced mock examiner for ABRSM piano examinations, providing valuable assessment and guidance to help students refine their performance and achieve outstanding results.
