The first and only Yamaha Tuba Artist in China, Kwan Long is currently an Adjunct Lecturer and Juror at the Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) Academy of Music, a guest tuba player with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra, Hong Kong Sinfonietta, Opera Hong Kong, and Macao Orchestra, as well as an endorsing artist for Perantucci Mouthpieces (Germany) and a Consultant for Tom Lee Music.
Kwan received his Master of Music in Tuba Performance under a double scholarship at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music (Australia), after completing a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Music at HKBU, majoring in Performance and Pedagogy. During his time in Australia, he served as Guest Principal Tuba with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and Willoughby Symphony Orchestra, while holding principal positions in the Eastern Sydney Chamber Orchestra, Sydney Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra, Wind Orchestra, and Brass Ensemble. He was also invited to record the soundtrack for the Hollywood blockbuster The Lego Movie.
Beyond his performing career, Kwan is a passionate educator, teaching at universities, secondary and primary schools, and music institutions across Hong Kong. As a conductor, he led the Diocesan Girls’ Junior School Symphonic Band to win the Primary School Division Championship at the 77th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival (2025) and the 78th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival (2026). He has also been a jury member for numerous music competitions.
In 2014, Kwan founded Hong Kong TubaMania—an annual festival for tuba and euphonium players, attracting participants from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, and beyond. It has since grown into Hong Kong’s premier low brass event. His educational contributions include masterclasses at the Shenzhen Art School (2015) and the 9th China (Chongqing) International Low Brass Festival (2023), where he conducted workshops, performed solo recitals, and served as a competition judge. Since 2023, he has been an invited artist at the annual Buffet Group Tuba Camp (Beijing), furthering the development of tuba music in China. In 2026, Kwan was invited to the Shanghai International Brass Festival as Artist.
In 2025, Kwan was invited by Radio Television Hong Kong to appear on the program “Music Connection,” where he shared his musical journey and educational philosophy while performing several pieces live, further promoting the art of tuba performance to wider audiences.
關朗是中國首位及唯一一位Yamaha大號簽約藝術家,現任香港浸會大學音樂學院兼任講師及考官,並擔任香港管弦樂團、香港小交響樂團、香港歌劇院及澳門樂團的特約大號樂手,同時為德國號嘴品牌Perantucci代言人及香港通利琴行管樂顧問。
關朗以雙獎學金於澳洲悉尼音樂學院取得音樂碩士學位,主修大號演奏;此前畢業於香港浸會大學,獲音樂文學士(榮譽)學位,主修演奏與教學法。留學期間,他曾任悉尼交響樂團及威洛比交響樂團客席首席大號,並擔任悉尼東區室樂團、悉尼音樂學院交響樂團、管樂團及銅管樂團的首席大號,更參與荷里活電影《樂高大電影》(The Lego Movie)原聲錄音。
關朗不僅活躍於舞台,亦熱衷教學與音樂教育推廣。他任教於多間大、中、小學及音樂機構,並指揮管弦樂團、管樂團與銅管小組,並於第77屆香港學校音樂節(2025) 及第78屆香港學校音樂節(2026) 帶領拔萃女小學管樂團連續兩年榮獲小學組冠軍,亦多次獲邀擔任音樂比賽評委。
2014年,他創辦「Hong Kong TubaMania-香港大號及次中音號音樂節」,吸引中國(含港澳台地區)、新加坡等地的樂手及學生參與,現已成為香港年度重要低音銅管盛事。2015年,他受邀至深圳藝術學校舉辦大師班;2023年更獲邀參與中國規模最大的低音銅管活動-第九屆中國(重慶)國際低音銅管藝術節,主持大師課、獨奏會及擔任比賽評委。此外,自2023年起,他連續獲邀擔任北京布菲大號夏令營藝術家,持續推動中國大號教育與演奏發展。 2026年,關朗獲邀到上海銅管國際藝術週擔任藝術家。
2025年,關朗獲香港電台邀請,於節目《音樂關係》中分享個人音樂歷程及教育理念,並現場演奏多首曲目,進一步向大眾推廣大號音樂藝術。
